Ruchottes-Chambertin is the highest Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin and its altitude was a boon in torrid 2018. It’s very much a ‘mountain wine’, at least in Burgundian terms, showing plenty of peony and rose petal perfume, deftly handled 30% new wood, bright, chalky minerality and a long, refreshing finish.
